The hive's figures

Hivly is named for the hive: figures collected from the authorities, checked against the source, and kept current as they change.

Collected, checked, kept current

Hundreds of pages of tariffs, decrees and circulars become one figure you can rely on, with its link and its date.

  1. Collected

We read the tariff, decree or circular itself, from the authority's own site or the official gazette. Not a news story about it.

  2. Checked

Each figure goes into a dataset with its source link and the date we opened it. Calculators are tested against the authority's own worked examples where one exists.

  3. Kept current

When a tariff or law changes, the page, the calculator and the change log are updated together, and the date moves.

Hivly is written and built by Syed Shehzad Gillani, a software developer based in the UAE. He writes the calculators, reads the tariffs and laws they rest on, and checks each figure before it is published. Hivly is independent: none of the authorities whose figures it explains runs it, pays for it or is connected to it. It is free to use and paid for by advertising.

Questions, answered

Is Hivly an official site? No. Hivly is independent and unofficial. It is not connected to DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, RTA, Parkin, Salik, MOHRE, RERA or any other authority. Your bill, your contract or the authority itself is always the final word.

Where do the numbers come from? From the tariff, law, decree or circular published by the authority that sets them. Every tool page lists those documents with links and the date we last opened them.

How current are the figures? Each page shows the date its figures were last checked against the source. When an authority changes a rate, we update the page and record the change in its change log.

Why might my bill differ from the estimate? Billing periods are rarely exactly a month, meters are sometimes estimated, and some charges depend on your account. The calculators show each line of the working so you can see where a difference comes from.

Does Hivly keep what I type? No. The calculators run in your browser and what you enter is not sent to us. There are no accounts and no sign-ups.

Who pays for Hivly? Advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no say in what the pages say. The privacy policy explains how the ads use cookies.

Is this legal or financial advice? No. It is general information to help you check a figure. For a dispute over a final settlement or a rent increase, go to MOHRE, the Rental Disputes Centre or a qualified adviser.

I found a figure that has changed. Thank you. Email hello@hivly.net with the page and a link to the new tariff or law. We check it against the source and update the page.
